This workshop is designed for
classroom teachers in grades K-8 as well as specialists in the
areas of gifted education, special education EBD, and special
education LD. Dr. Johnson will demonstrate a wide variety of
research-based strategies that can be used in an inclusive
classroom setting to enhance all students ability to read and
write. The workshop can also be adapted for content area
teachers in grades 7 through 12

related to any of the following areas:

fluency decoding or word recognition strategies
comprehension skills for expository text comprehension
skills for narrative text literature-based
instruction personal connections with literacy
inclusive classroom strategies for students with LD and EBD
inclusive classroom strategies for students who are
highly creative and intellectually gifted writing
workshop, technical writing, and the process approach to
writing reading and writing across the curriculum
effective basal instruction thinking skills and
literacy vocabulary and spelling grammar,
punctuation, editing, and peer editing literacy and the
arts: creative dramatics, poetry, and creative writing
action research in literacy education authentic
assessment oral communication and listening skills
literacy and multiple forms of intelligence Internet
literacy
